Red Sox 4 - Athletics 0 - both games go to the Boston Red Sox !

David Ortiz hit on Saturday a two-run homer, and four Boston pitchers combined to allow just three hits in the 4-0 shutout of the Red Sox over the Oakland Athletics to complete the sweep in the second game a watered-night doubleheader.

The Red Sox are 8-3 in their last 11 games and increased their lead in the Eastern Division of the American League to two games over the Yankees, whose doubleheader against Baltimore was suspended by rain.

In the first game, Lester (14-6) allowed two runs, one earned, with three hits in six innings. He gave two walks and struck out four strikeouts.

The Red Sox scored three runs in the second and third innings against the Venezuelan Guillermo Moscoso (6-8) for a 7-2 lead.

In the opener, the Red Sox, Marco Scutaro 5-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Adrian Gonzalez 4-2 with a run scored. The Ortiz 4-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

In the second game, the Red Sox, the Venezuelan Scutaro 3-0. The Mexican Gonzalez 4-0. The Ortiz 4-3 with a run scored and two RBIs.
