Pedroia drove in three runs and Beckett overcame a tricky exit

Second baseman Dustin Pedroia drove in three runs with two timely singles for Boston Red Sox return to the path of success and won 4-3 to Kansas City and not lose ground to the top of the AL East occupied by New York Yankees.

The timely hitting Pedroia starter Josh Beckett allowed to overcome a bad start to the match and reach the seven innings he would be allowed to stay with the win.

The catcher Jason Varitek also drove another run for the Red Sox (75-48), who had lost five of their last seven matches and lose the lead in the NL East after losing the series 3-1 against the Rays in Tampa Bay.

Beckett (10-5), although it gave up three runs in the first three episodes, then regained control, not making concessions and keeping the win.

The right-hander returned to find the winning formula to get the Royals 7-1 in the fighting that has had as a professional against them and only lost once, on July 28 in Boston.

Beckett also reached 10 wins after failing in four attempts.

The defeat was for starter Luke Hochevar (8-10) who worked six innings and gave up eight hits with four earned runs, walked two and struck out walked six batters rivals.
